AWiM/UNEP Environmental Journalism Campaign
This 30-minute self-paced course will introduce you to solutions journalism techniques that enable you to report holistically on our environment. You’ll gain insights on how to write stories that contextualise the African Green Stimulus Programme, as advocated by the United Nations Environmental Programme. Over the course of 4 modules and 5 short assessment quizzes, you will emerge a solutions-focused journalist, able to provide rigorous, evidence-based reporting on responses to social problems.
Upon the completion of this course, learners will;
Have a comprehensive understanding of solutions journalism- what it is and why it is important.
Have a comprehensive understanding of the strategic approaches to solutions journalism from the idea to reporting to the completed story.
Know how to apply the solutions approach to enhance their coverage of environmental issues such as biodiversity, climate change, and pollution.
AWiM/UNEP Environmental Journalism Campaign
The course is reporting on the gendered perspectives of environmental issues with the aim of teaching female journalists to report on environmental issues, specifically, biodiversity, climate change and pollution, discussing whether the gender lens was used or not, and how it was used to create an impact. The practical program translates into articles produced by female journalists.
